Freight brokers match their company with reliable shippers to transport goods and negotiate terms of that business relationship so both parties make a profit in moving cargo. As a freight broker in the Transportation & Logistics Sector, you will need to understand a variety of equipment, including tractor/trailer, rail, maritime and air methods to determine the best course of shipping action. At the end of your apprenticeship, you will receive a certification for the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) certifying your ability to act as a broker.
